Hello everyone, and welcome back to my another Marvel Battle series where we talk about: Who will win in a fight between two characters? And today, I’m gonna discuss a fight between Deadpool and Wolverine.
With exceptional healing factors and similar powers and abilities, this makes up for an interesting fight. This fight is essentially a battle about whose healing factor is stronger.
And Because of that fans are always debating about the same and Today I am gonna answer this with an in-depth article discussing different-different possibilities and scenarios.
So without wasting time let’s get started. But before going in-depth let’s start with a short and precise answer:
A fight between Deadpool and Wolverine is definitely a close one which would more often than not lead to a stalemate. They both have an exceptional healing factor which makes them borderline unkillable. However, wolverine does have a slight upper hand because of his exceptional hand-to-hand combat.
So to be on the safe side, I conclude that Wolverine wins this 6/10. Although, I agree that this fight could lead either way because they are evenly matched. And it’s a textbook case of: “It all depends on what the writer wants.”
But I’ll be going in a little bit more depth and we’ll see the bigger picture here and discuss this fight in detail introducing more scenarios. So without wasting time let’s get to the next section.

Wolverine and Deadpool Stats
Firstly, let’s have a look at the stats of both these characters. These scores are given out of 7. Scores are based on the following benchmark:
- Durability
- Energy
- Fighting
- Intelligence
- Speed
- Strength

As you can see, Both Deadpool and Wolverine are evenly matched. Only Deadpool’s speed is 7 which sounds surprising but there is a reason behind this and I’m gonna discuss that later.
Also, these stats are straight away pulled from Marvel’s official site. Now let’s move on to the abilities of both the character:
Wolverine Abilities:
- Enhanced strength, speed, stamina, durability, endurance, agility, reflexes, dexterity, resilience, flexibility, coordination, balance, and reaction time.
- Superhuman senses, and animal-like attributes.
- Extended longevity via regenerative healing factor.
- Indestructible bones as Adamantium-infused skeleton.
- Master hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist.
Deadpool Abilities:
- Regeneration/Healing Factor.
- Extended longevity.
- Skilled marksman, swordsman, martial artist, and hand-to-hand combatant.
- Master assassin.
- Using devices granting teleportation and holographic disguise.
- Peak human speed.
- Superhuman strength, durability, stamina, reflexes, and agility.
Even their abilities are almost identical. While Deadpool has superhuman strength, durability, and reflexes Wolverine has superhuman senses and animal-like attributes such as smell, and reflexes, and of course his retractable claws.
In the next section, I’m gonna discuss these stats in a little bit more detail.

Deadpool vs Wolverine: Full Battle
Now let’s compare both of them briefly based on the benchmark discussed in the stats table above. And see who comes out on top in each:
Durability: Tie
Durability here means the ability to withstand pressure, wear, or damage. So, let’s compare two of our anti-heroes based on this parameter. It’s evidently clear from the stats that both of them get 4 out 7 points.
But let’s have a look at some of their best Durability feats and judge accordingly. Talking about Wolverine: He often can withstand at least a few punches from super strong characters like Namor, Hulk, etc.
He was one crashed by a car but in the next frame looks mostly unharmed. Logan once resisted Omega Red’s Death spores which knocked out other X-Men.
Wolverine has also survived the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima just like in movies but in the comics, he wasn’t even underground.
Now talking about Deadpool: He also has the same stats and is capable of pulling off everything that Wolverine can. He once survived without a heart and gets his smashed into a metal wall without any effect.
Once his spine was partially torn out and dynamite goes off inside of his body. Although he lost his legs in the process but survives. He was rammed through a building but looks just fine in the next frame.

Energy: Tie
The energy here refers to energy projection. As we all know that neither Deadpool nor Wolverine can project any energy blast. There is nothing to really discuss here.
However, some of you might be wondering how they still scored 1. Well, let me tell you, it’s their general energy (force or strength), or say Aura that we all have and project all the time. Hence they both get 1 out of 7.
Fighting: Wolverine
This is where Wolverine outshines Deadpool. Even though the difference is not much but this can well be the game-changer in such a close encounter. Fighting here essentially means skilled hand-to-hand combat.
Logan is an expert in martial art and hand-to-hand combat. He also has extensive knowledge and training in different fighting styles. He has spent countless hours in the Danger Room and helped train skilled fighters like Kitty Pryde, Storm, Black Widow, and more.
Deadpool was a martial artist even before he got his healing factor. Once he watched Shatterstar train for over an hour and learned thirty-five different weaknesses in his fighting technique. And then he proceeds to defeat him.
He effortlessly defeats a horde of ninjas while on the phone. Deadpool has fought several high-profile assassins and even killed some of them. He is just one point behind Wolverine. So, to conclude I would say wolverine’s fighting skills are slightly better.

Intelligence: Tie
Intelligence comes into play when we’re talking about strategy, intellect, and reasoning required for the Planning of War/Battle. They both get a low score of 2 out of 7.
This isn’t really surprising considering they aren’t really a Team player and prefer to work alone. Though this doesn’t mean they aren’t intelligent or smart.
In fact, Wolverine is pretty smart. He has been an assassin, samurai, spy, soldier, and many more. Which obviously requires intellect. He has learned spy-craft from Black Widow’s father. and can speak many different languages.
It’s the same for Deadpool, he also knows many different languages including Russian, German, Spanish. But he suffers from one major problem. Because of his healing factor, he constantly changes his mind which makes it hard for him to retain information.

Speed: Tie
Now talking about Speed and agility, Though Wolverine has scored 4 out of 7 which is fair. As he enhanced speed and agility.
However, notice that Marvel has given Deadpool is given 7 out of 7 points. Which doesn’t really make sense. So, let me tell you it’s because he has a device through which he achieves teleport and hence the score.
But we’re gonna consider that and will judge it according to pure speed feats. Wolverine is certainly fast. Just check out this scene from ‘Logan’ where Wolverine comes roaring in to save his daughter.
This scene is pretty accurate to comics where soldiers have a hard time aiming at him because of how quickly he changes his pace of attack and dodges bullets.
His sense combined with his speed makes up for a deadly combination. He often strikes faster before his opponent can even register.
Talking about Deadpool; He isn’t behind either. Deadpool can literally slice a bullet in half, weave through rapid gunfire. Once he caught up to an airplane before it took off.
Once he scaled Scales outside of a building and then covered fifteen yards in two jumps. Hence, once again this parameter leads to a deadlock.

Strength: Tie
As with the other parameters, Both Logan and Wade are equally matched in strength as well. Both of them get a solid score of 4 out of 7. They both have achieved notable strength feats in their lifetimes.
Let’s discuss their feats with examples: Wolverine has enhanced strength. He often lifts, carries, throws hundreds of pounds (800lbs-2tons) with relative ease.
Once he caught and holds an elevator with two people in it with one hand while hanging on the lift cable with another hand. He once threw a shark onto a boat with little to no leverage.
He often one-shot humans, break their bones or toss them around. Like once he picked up six men three on each hand and threw them over a wooden wall.
On the other hand, Deadpool is not behind either, he has superhuman strength with a class strength of 2-ton, which means he can easily lift 2-ton over his head with arms fully extended.
He can smash metal doors with relative ease just by kicking. He can swing a minigun with one arm and even send one-man flying in doing so. Once he shattered a wall by kicking cable’s head into it.

Healing Factor: Deadpool
It wouldn’t be fair if we talk about the fight between Deadpool and Wolverine, and then not compare their Healing factor.
Although Marvel doesn’t have any stats for this it’s a well-known fact that Wade Wilson’s healing factor is far superior to that of Wolverine.
Even though Deadpool gets his healing factor from Wolverine, Deadpool’s one is better because Wolverine’s healing factor is slightly slowed down by the adamantium on his bones.
His healing factor is always trying to get rid of adamantium as it thinks that it is a foreign substance. This gives him a slight disadvantage over Deadpool.
Additionally, it’s noted that Deadpool’s healing is more mentally dependent which means if Deadpool is focused on healing he will heal faster and vice-versa.

Who will win in the Movies?
Wolverine or Deadpool isn’t in the MCU right now. So, let’s compare their cinematic version for now and see who will win?
We’ve already seen them fight in Fox’s Wolverine: Origins movie. Where we got Deadpool but a merc without a mouth. As Deadpool’s mouth was sew shut. No idea why they made it that way.
Anyways, in the movie, they are evenly matched but at last, Wolverine kills him and Hence he wins this fight. However, it should be noted that Deadpool was nerfed really hard in this movie.
Now let’s compare, Wolverine vs Deadpool, but it’s Wade from the 2 recent movies. Then this would be interesting to see and would probably be a tie but I am still biased toward Wolverine winning it.

Who will win in the Comics?
Deadpool and Wolverine have fought each other on a few occasions in Marvel Comics. Most of the time the fight is even unless writers want it the other way. Or Deadpool just isn’t interested and will lose purposely and joke about it.
Let’s see those fights is brief and see who comes out on top. Also, if you wanna give that story a shot, I will leave the link for the same. So let’s get started:
1. Wolverine Lands a Devastating Blow
In Deadpool (1997) #27, They come across each other as Deadpool was on his mission, and had to fight Wolverine in the way. They fought each other for a while and both of them were equally matched.
But then Deadpool stops suddenly and gives Wolverine a chance to attack which he takes and lands a Devastating blow with his bone claws.
2. Deadpool holds the lead
In Wolverine Annual ’99, Deadpool was on his usual work and Wolverine sneaks up on him and kicks him. Wade then goes flying and is barely saved as he hangs at the edge of the roof.
Hence begin the fight, Deadpool quickly jumps back and lands a kick on Wolverine’s face. This fight then goes on but Deadpool is in the lead as he throws his sword which goes right through Wolvie’s shoulder but this fight is soon interrupted.
3. Wolverine holds the Advantage
In Cable and Deadpool #44, Wolverine was trying to catch Weasel aka The Penetrator. Weasel was secretly working with HYDRA but Deadpool didn’t know that so he was trying to protect him.
Wolverine finds out their location and attacks Deadpool. Though at first, it looked like Deadpool is gonna win but soon Wolverine disarms and shoves his claws right through Deadpool’s chest. But it’s noted that Deadpool had some sort of Brain damage during the fight.
Conclusion
So guys that’s a wrap for another MCU Battle article. I conclude that a fight between Wolverine and Deadpool will often lead to a tie unless the writers want it the other way.
