Steve Rogers aka Captain America is the most inspirational character from the Marvel Universe. He might be just fictional for many people out there, but for me (and a lot more), he’s more than that. So today, I’m gonna share the best quotes of Captain America from his MCU Journey.
These are the quotes that I believe are the most inspiring lines from Captain America. And after reading this post you’ll have no choice but to agree with me.
While he may not be as powerful as other people in the room. But still, he is the leader of the Avengers. A king, a Genius Billionaire, A God waits for his instruction down on the battlefield.
These are the moments that tell everything about him. As Dr. Erskine quoted, “Not a perfect soldier, but a good man.” Let’s start this story, as they say, “The story of Captain America is one of Honor, Bravery, and Sacrifice.“
Best Captain America Quotes from Marvel Phase 1
I’m gonna divide this list phase-wise namely Phase 1, 2, and 3 as Marvel released their movies in this particular order. So let’s get started with Phase 1:
1. “I can do this all day…”
Is there any better way of starting the list of Captain America quotes than this one? This quote doesn’t need any introduction. Steve Rogers always stood his ground, no matter who is against him. Even when he was just a skinny dude, he never ran away from the bullies.
And then when he was a super-soldier he stood his ground against the whole Thanos army with a broken and shield and a 3-inch deep cut on his hand. And he was ready to take on them all. So, if Captain isn’t willing to give his ground, neither we should.
2. “There are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them.”
From starting, Steve was different from other people. He cares for everyone alike and has enormous respect for the soldier that is fighting on the front line.
No wonder that was the aim of his life. To serve the nation and he was willing to die for that. And that is the reason Erskine choose him.

3. “I don’t like bullies. I don’t care where they’re from.”
If there’s anything that Captain America doesn’t like are bullies. And bullies here just don’t mean Big guy bothering a small kid. He is referring to every powerful people who oppress the weaker ones.
So he is willing to stand and fight for the weaker. Even when he was a little guy, he always stood and fought against the bullies. And in the next quote, you’ll see why he always stands and never runs.
4. “You start running, they’ll never let you stop.”
Peggy Carter didn’t fall in love with Steve when he became a tall handsome Super-Soldier with big muscles. I believe she was already attracted to him from the flag scene and then from that grenade incident.
And then comes this scene whilst driving through Brooklyn when they were going to the lab for the experiment.
Steve Rogers: I know this neighborhood. I got beat up in that alley. And that parking lot. And behind that diner.
Peggy Carter: Did you have something against running away?
Steve Rogers: You start running they’ll never let you stop. You stand up, push back. Can’t say no forever, right?
I think this was the exact moment where Peggy fell in love with his character and so do we.

5. “I’m just a kid from Brooklyn.”
Well, that’s what makes Captain so different. While Schmidt said that he was full of arrogance. And he asks what made him so special that the serum worked perfectly on him. He simply replied, “Nothing I’m just a kid from Brooklyn.“
Here’s how it goes:
Johann Schmidt: Ah. He resented my genius and tried to deny me what was rightfully mine. But he gave you everything. So, what made you so special?
Steve Rogers: Nothing. I’m just a kid from Brooklyn.
6. “I slept for 70 years, sir. I think I’ve had my fill.”
Now let’s head over to The Avengers movie. Nick Fury was just to talk about the mission to recover the stolen tesseract. Then we see Captain America training in the gym like a beast while having flashbacks.
So, Nick Fury asks, “Trouble Sleeping?”. To which Steve replies, “I slept for 70 years, sir. I think I’ve had my fill.” It simply means that he has rested enough and is ready to take on the world. Especially after losing so much, which takes us to the next quote.

7. “When I went under, the world was at war. I wake up, they say we won.”
Nick Fury tells him that Perhaps he should out celebrating, seeing the world. By this, he meant that Steve has only seen war, and now it’s been 70 years. So he should see how the world is after they’ve won.
To which Steve replied, “When I went under, the world was at war. I wake up, they say we won. They didn’t say what we lost.“
War always brings destruction to both sides regardless of who wins the war. But no one ever talks about what they lost due to the war.
8. “Big Man in a suit of armor. Take that off what are you?”
This argument is one of the few reasons I love The Avenger movie. It was pretty clear from starting that bringing these heroes with distinct personalities and ideologies is going to be hard.
And This movie deals with that. This argument between Tony and Steve perfectly sums it up. To be honest, this whole conversation is quotable.
Steve Rogers: Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?
Tony Stark: Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
Steve Rogers: I know guys with none of that worth ten of you. I’ve seen the footage. The only thing you really fight for is yourself. You’re not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you.
Tony Stark: I think I would just cut the wire.
Steve Rogers: Always a way out. You know, you may not be a threat, but you’d better stop pretending to be a hero.
I wouldn’t continue from otherwise Tony Stark’s quote will steal the limelight. But now (After Endgame) it doesn’t matter as they both proved each other wrong.
9. “We won…”
As Captain said earlier, “After the war they always ay we won and nothing more.” So when Tony returns to his consciousness he asked, “What the hell happened.”
To which Steve simply replies, “We won.” He said this because this was what he was being told when he came back 70 years later.

Top Steve Rogers quotes from Marvel Phase 2 Movies
Let’s head over to phase 2 and check out the best quotes from our favorite kid from Brooklyn aka Captain America:
10. “I’m with you till the end of the line”
The end of one of the best MCU films (in my opinion) couldn’t be any better than this. This shows the friendship of Steve and Bucky and Captain is the kind of friend you must have behind your back.
Even though Bucky is brainwashed and his mission is to finish Captain, Steve isn’t willing to fight his friend. And tells him to finish the mission because “I’m with you till the end of the line.” As this was originally quoted by bucky himself.

11. “Before we get started does anyone wanna get out”
Cap is a war hero, he knows about his environment and surroundings. So he can sense when there is something wrong or dangerous is coming. Hence he’s always ready to fight it out. I call it a soldier instinct.
Also, being an honorable soldier, he always gives his enemies an option to run as great soldiers always do. So when he was in that elevator he sensed something was wrong but it turns out that it was the other people in the lift who was in danger.
So he gives all of them a bit of friendly advice, “Before we get started does anyone wanna get out.” I always found this scene and quote Badass. And now this scene has converted into a popular meme.

12. “You get hurt, hurt ’em back. You get killed, walk it off”
This quote is from AoU, well Captain obviously meant it to be humorous. But I feel it’s also somewhat poetic. And Captain wants his soldiers (fellow Avengers) to never give up.
Always strive for the goals no matter whether they are facing an entire Ultron Army. This can also be applied to our life as we should never give up on our goals, no matter what obstacles are in our path.
13. “Soldiers trust each other. That’s what makes it an army.”
As there’s a great saying, “United we stand, divided we fall“. That’s what the motto of Captain America is. So when Nick Fury didn’t tell him about Natasha’s different mission he was pissed as innocent people could have died.
To which Fury replied, “That’s why sent the greatest soldier in the history.” Then comes Steve’s powerful quote, “Soldiers trust each other. That’s what makes it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around shooting guns.”
Although Nick’s answer, “Last time, I trusted someone I lost an eye” was also good. As it was so intense, dramatic, and powerful. In fact, it’s one of Fury’s best quotes from MCU. But we know it’s all ruined for a joke.
I’ve written an in-depth article about how Nick Fury lost his eye in the comics and in comparison with the MCU make sure to check that out as well.
14. “Price of freedom is high. It always has been.”
This quote is part of one of the best speeches from Captain America. He gave this speech in The Winter Soldier, where Hydra had taken over S.H.I.E.L.D. he urges people to come together and fight against these people.
He ends his speech as follows, “I know I’m asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it’s a price I’m willing to pay. And if I’m the only one, then so be it. But I’m willing to bet I’m not.“
And the only thing we can say after this is the same as falcon quotes, “Did he write that down first, or was it off the top of his head?“
Amazing Quotes of Captain America from Marvel Phase 3
Let’s head over to the final Phase of Steve and checkout his best quotes:
15. “I know we’re not perfect, but the safest hands are still our own.”
It’s been nearly 4 years since the Civil War. And up to this date, I am still ready to debate on the fact that both Captain and Tony were wrong and right in different regards.
This is the statement which I agree with cap. He once also quoted, “This job… we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn’t mean everybody. But if we can’t find a way to live with that, next time… maybe nobody gets saved.“
16. “I promise you, if you need us, if you need me, I’ll be there.”
How heartbreaking was that to see two of our best characters fighting each other. And then the breakup of Avengers. But if that wasn’t enough we get a letter from Steve that was sent to Tony and was filled with emotions.
Steve tells Tony everything and I think that should’ve been enough to end the Team Cap vs Team Iron Man among fans. But we still fight over that debate. Anyways in the end Cap said/wrote, “No matter what. I promise you, if you need us, if you need me, I’ll be there.“
And this line hits even harder when you watch Infinity War, where Tony just pulled his phone out and was about to call Steve. Maybe the consequences would have been different. But then, we wouldn’t be getting Endgame.
17. “I’m not looking for forgiveness.”
This line’s from Infinity War where Ross threatens Captain and Nat that you think everything’s forgiven. To which Steve replies, “I’m not looking for forgiveness and I’m way past asking permission.“
Captain’s character has come a long way since the beginning. From “We have our orders, we should follow them” to “We are here to fight and if you want to stand in our way, we’ll fight you too” to the government.
18. “We don’t trade lives.”
Even though Captain is willing to risk his life to save other people. He doesn’t believe in trade lives. This is why Cap is different than others.
The value of every life is equal in front of him and it doesn’t matter whether it’s the life of a Synthezoid. So when Vision tells them to destroy the stone implying to destroy him. Captain said, “We don’t trade lives, Vision.”
19. “Some people move on. But not us.”
Avengers: Endgame deals with the aftermath of the Infinity War. This means the world after Thanos snap where half of the population is dusted.
So Steve’s on a mission which his counseling session and he’s telling the people to move on and look on the brighter side.
But when he confronts Natasha he says, “You know, I keep telling everybody they should move on…and grow. Some do. But not us.“
20. “Whatever it Takes.”
Here comes one of the most famous and widely known lines from the MCU franchise. And yet again it’s from Steve Rogers. This little talk before the mission helps Avengers build up their confidence and stay strong.
And this one’s no different, Captain tells everyone that they have to undo what Thanos has done. And they’re gonna win. “Whatever it takes“. As Rocket says, “He’s pretty good at it.” Right.
21. “Avengers Assemble.”
After teasing this dialogue back in 2015’s Avengers; Age of Ultron, Captain America finally decided to Assemble all the Avengers on the battlefield on his instruction.
Most people said the whole Endgame was fan service. Well, technically they are not wrong. But they deserved every right to make it so. Because it wasn’t forced and earned over 10 years of storytelling with so many arcs.
So, these were my favorite quotes from Captain America. Which I feel are the most inspiring ones from his MCU journey.
Unfortunately, his journey has now come to an end. But as they say, “Don’t be sad because it’s over, smile because it happened.“
Anyways, let me know what’s your favorite quote from Steve rogers in the comment section below.
