As we all know recently Marvel Studios has made the decision to move ahead with the third ‘Ant-man‘ film. Earlier it was reported that Ant-Man will move to Disney Plus. But now it’s confirmed that Ant-Man 3 is happening. With that, there’s also good news for Fantastic Four Fans.
Ant-man 3 is expected to start filming in the Summer of 2021. However, here we will be talking about the Big Picture. Ant-man 3 could introduce Fantastic Four in the MCU. Yes, you heard it right. Fantastic Four are going to join MCU in Phase 5.
We have previously discussed that Ant-man director Peyton Reed has the script for Fantastic four. But FOX didn’t let him work on that. Now Disney has bought FOX. So, Reed can grab this opportunity to introduce F4 in the MCU. Let’s Discuss it.
Ant-Man 3 connection with Fantastic Four
So to introduce Fantastic four there must be some connection between both of them. So here’s how this can be built. Peyton Reed might retcon Reed Richard(Mr. Fantastic) and Hank Pym as having been working together on studying the Quantum Realm.
Consequently, Richard and his family mysteriously disappear after an experiment with opening a portal to the Quantum Realm.
Pym decided to continue the research, but with an emphasis on manipulating Quantum Energy (and creating Pym Particles in the process), but now with the successful rescue of Janet and Tony Stark’s technology allowing for guided navigation through the Quantum Realm.
He thinks it’s time to look for his old colleague/partner/mentor/ whatever. And then they return to our time with fantastic powers, but without having aged much because of how time works there.
Introduction of Dr. Doom
Throw Doom in there as another researcher who, because of the unpredictable nature of the Quantum Realm, returns without any powers but with horrible scarring, and retreats to Latveria at the end to reclaim his inherited throne and grow bitter towards his more fortunate former friends.
This will be a great origin story for Both Fantastic Four and Dr. Doom. Because no one will complain where were these people this whole time. Marvel most probably wants to develop Dr. Doom just like they did Thanos. So this is the best idea till now.
Why Ant-man should introduce Fantastic Four?
Yes, I heard you the Fantastic Four deserve their own origin movie. However, it’s not a bad idea to set up a base for a Fantastic Four movie in the Ant-Man 3 itself. While Ant-Man gets his trilogy finished. It can tie up Ant-Man with the Quantum Realm and give us more depth and expansion of the world of the Quantum Realm.
However, first things first, we want to see Peyton Reed ending Ant-man trilogy on a high note. Then focus on the Fantastic Four origin movie. Brad Bird is also a great choice indeed but I still want Peyton to direct it.
He wants to direct it from his heart and we’re all up for that. Let’s just hope he puts more effort into the script then he did in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Why Ant-Man and the Wasp was Bad?
No doubt Ant-man and the wasp was great as a continuation story for MCU. But as a standalone movie for Ant-Man and it’s characters it was bad.
It would be a great idea to tie up Ant-man 3 to introduce the Negative Zone against Annihilus. Hank was inspired by Fantastic tales of the forgotten Reed Richards. He was lost to the world in 64 after trying to find the Quantum realm. Little did anyone know that the fledgling SSR (later SHIELD) had disavowed the mission after the son of a Latvian dynasty had gone missing.
To be honest it’s script got butchered by to connect it more to MCU. The film felt more like a road from Civil War to Infinity War instead of an individual film. I just felt the script was very unpolished and lazy I love the first film and hope he directs the 3rd to be the spark that magic.

Fantastic four in MCU
After Peyton Reed origin movie for the F4. A new director can take on an F4 trilogy or four films with the final being an adaptation of Jonathan Hickman’s Fantastic Four.
We have already shared with you the List of MCU Phase 4 movies and TV shows and also some of the confirmed Phase 5 movies. The July 2022 movie in Phase 5 should be Ant-Man 3. With that Peyton Reed will be able to finish his trilogy while getting his wish to do F4.
The Quantum Realm serves as a much better origin story for the F4 than space travel. In 2021, they’re releasing four films, I see no reason why they wouldn’t keep that going forward. But we also have Blade, GotG 3, and Captain Marvel 2 confirmed directly by Feige.
While Ant-Man 3, Deadpool and Fantastic 4 are at the very least being planned, and two confirmed release dates to give to them, maybe a third in 2022. Really hoping this to be a West Coast Avengers team-up I would LOVE to see Scott and Hope leading the West Coast Avengers.
Release Date for Ant-Man 3
So this likely means it’ll be 2022 seems reasonable to me, along with the three Disney+ shows for that year. That means 2023 will likely be GOTG 3, Captain Marvel 2, and then maybe another new property.
Almost certainly, but keep in mind we don’t have a confirmed release year for Blade, only that it’s coming. If I recall, we don’t even know for sure that it’s Phase 5.
However, I believe that we will also get four movies in 2022, we’re getting four in 2021 and even though one of them is technically a Sony movie. As Disney bought Fox, so we won’t be getting any other X-Men movies. Which means less competition for Marvel cause of fewer superhero movies.
A November slot is very likely. According to Charles Murphy, we have this release order for Phase 5 movies in 2022:

He can be considered as a pretty credible source. Because he was right for many of his predictions/leaks in the past. We can see that the February slot is empty that could be for Deadpool 3.
Conclusion
If Peyton Reed returns, especially with his vocal love of the Fantastic Four, I could see this being part Ant-Man sequel, part FF origin, with the Quantum Realm taking the place of “Cosmic Rays.”
Please let it be a Kaiju monster flick Ant-Man needs at least 1 film with big stakes Speaking of which, nothing is stopping Wasp from also being Giant-Woman from time to time, right?
